Dr. Charles Svoboda

Dr. Charles Svoboda grew up in Berwyn, IL and graduated from Morton West High School. Dr. Svoboda performed his undergraduate studies at University of Illinois-Chicago and University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign College of Veterinary Medicine in 1981. Dr. Charles practiced in Yorkville IL for 3 years prior to moving to the Harvard Veterinary Clinic. He purchased the Harvard Veterinary Clinic in 1986 and has practiced in Harvard since then. He is a co-owner of the Hartland Veterinary Clinic in Woodstock IL. Dr. Svoboda enjoys all aspects of small animal medicine and surgery as well as equine field work and equine dentistry. Dr. Charles spends his free time with his son Dillon in the pursuit of outdoor passions that include fishing and hunting. He also enjoys tending to his monster garden with his wife Camela at his home in Harvard.
Dr. Shawn M. Costello
Dr. Shawn M. CostelloDoctor of Veterinary Medicine
Dr. Shawn Costello grew up in Woodstock, IL and graduated from Woodstock High School. Dr. Costello completed his undergraduate training at the University of Illinois College of Agriculture. He has been practicing veterinary medicine since he graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign College of Veterinary Medicine at Urbana Champaign in 1986. Dr. Costello has been at the Harvard Veterinary Clinic since 1988. Along with his duties at the Harvard Veterinary Clinic, Dr. Shawn also is co-owner of Hartland Veterinary Clinic in Woodstock, IL. Dr. Shawn loves both soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, and enjoys being able to work with animals every single day. When he is not working, he loves to run out in his pasture with his “Jack Russell terrorists” and spend time with his 7-year-old daughter, Catie. He also enjoys traveling, hiking in the wilderness, and photography.
Bridgette Nolan
Bridgette Nolan Veterinary Assistant
Bridgette grew up and has lived in Harvard her entire life. She began working at Harvard Veterinary Clinic less than a year after her high school graduation and has continued to work for the company since, making her a fixture at the clinic since early 2012. During her time at the clinic she has managed to work her way from the kennels to the front desk and technical duties. Her many jobs include: helping with any and all animals, big and small, that walk through the door, helping keep tabs on inventory, machine and blood test maintenance, and assisting the doctors with whatever else they may need. When she is not at the clinic, she is working as an emergency medical technician and licensed firefighter. Bridgette also enjoys reading and cooking or baking for her family and friends.
Rachel MacKenzie
Rachel MacKenzieVeterinary Assistant
Rachel has worked at the Harvard Veterinary clinic for 2 years. Rachel has always had a keen interest in animals. She developed her passion for veterinary care while volunteering at Helping Paws Animal Shelter with her sister. Rachel grew up in Woodstock, IL, where she graduated from Woodstock High School. She attended McHenry County Community College. She enjoys spending time with her growing family and doing any type of outdoor activity. Rachel lives in Harvard with her husband, John, and her newborn daughter, Addilyn. Her family has two spoiled dogs named Cashew and Lily. Rachel and her family also have a cat who lives on their in-law’s farm. She loves taking her daughter to visit the cows, chickens, and ducks.
Stacy Vincenzo
Stacy VincenzoVeterinary Assistant
Stacy was born and raised in Woodstock Il. She graduated from Woodstock High School and about a year later started working for the Harvard Veterinary Clinic. Stacy’s attitude is that every day is a new day in the veterinary field. On a daily basis her main focus is on the health and wellness of the animals. Whether it’s blood draws, x-rays, surgery prep and assisting surgery, she enjoys her work immensely. Stacy particularly enjoys her interactions with pet parents during daily appointments. Animals have always been her passion. Stacy and her husband, Dan, amazingly care for 8 dogs, a bird, 3 hedgehogs, 5 rats and 4 horses. She is very involved in various animal rescues and in her spare time enjoys hitting the trails with her horses and her friends. Animals are her life and she says she could not imagine doing anything different or working anywhere else!
Amy Peterson
Amy PetersonVeterinarian Assistant
Amy grew up in Woodstock, IL and recently completed the Veterinarian Assistant Course at McHenry County College and received her certificate. She has worked in the veterinary field since high school and for the last four years has worked on a full time basis at veterinary hospitals. Amy recently came to the Harvard Veterinary Clinic in the last year. Prior to that she held a position at Arlington Heights Animal Hospital. Amy enjoys helping with clients and their patients. She assists with X-Rays, blood draws, placing IV catheters, and dental cleanings. She loves that her job is different every single day as it gives her something new to look forward to. Amy is a HUGE Cubs fan, and loves the Bears too. She is the mother of a 5-year-old boy who is her entire world! They live with 2 dogs, Mac & Bryzzo.
Renee Pecoraro
Renee Pecoraro Receptionist and Assistant
Renee grew up in Wauconda, IL and has been with Harvard Veterinary Clinic for the past 12 years. For the 7 years prior, she worked as a Veterinary Technician at Family Pet Care in Algonquin. Renee brings her passion, compassion and joy every day to each and every client and their pets. Renee has loved animals since she was a very young child and has always enjoyed caring for them. She and her husband, Jeff, have had horses, dogs, cats and snakes over the years. When not working at the veterinary clinic Renee enjoys walking and hiking with her two very lovable Pitbull Terriers and playing with her two adorable cats!
